Grab your dancing shoes, and prepare for a boot-scootin’ good time. The Whittlesea Country Music Festival has been running for over 15 years, and it’s back in February with a stellar lineup.
This festival is practically an institution in Whittlesea, and it’s run entirely by volunteers for the enjoyment of the community. A great mix of musical styles and talent are on the cards again, as well as busker competitions.
The festival will begin on Friday February 8 at Whittlesea Bowls Club, kicking off a weekend of toe-tapping live music. Here, Tania Kernaghan and McAvaneys will be entertaining crowds with performances from 7pm.
The good times keep rolling on Saturday, with street festivities and kids activities commencing. Buskers will be playing along the main street, and there’ll be a jumping castle, face painting and an animal farm between 10am and 2pm for children. There will also be free horse and cart rides!
Businesses surrounding the festival will be open on Saturday, providing attendees with the opportunity to support their local stores and cafes.
Saving the best for last, celebrations will end with Twilight Night on Saturday evening from 4pm at Walker Reserve. The lineup includes country music superstar Troy Cassar Daley, Paul Costa, Jetty Road and Tania Kernaghan*
The evening will provide entertainment for the whole family, with rides in the carnival corner to delight young and old. Bring along a picnic blanket, some snacks or enjoy food from the stalls provided and soak up the atmosphere. Weather permitting, there’ll also be a fireworks display to close out the night.
Come along to see all the Whittlesea Country Music Festival has to offer. And if you’d like to stay up to date with future community events happening in the area, visit the Riverhills Facebook page.
