There’s plenty to keep you cool and entertained this summer, so we thought we’d whip up a quick guide of fun activities happening around Whittlesea. So break out the sunscreen and carry on reading for some holiday time inspiration.
Funfields Volcano Beach
Never one to remain the same for long, Funfields Themepark is adding a new and exciting attraction this summer…Volcano Beach!
Opening just in time for school holidays, it will be Victoria’s very first heated outdoor waves pool, pumping out surf of up to one metre high.
Sure to be very popular with kids and the young at heart alike, Volcano Beach will officially open on December 21.
There are loads of other rides and attractions to enjoy at Funfields too, offering outdoor fun for everyone!
Summer at the Showgrounds
Enjoy a balmy evening at this free event hosted by the Whittlesea Football and Netball Club. Summer at the Showgrounds will include music by Gary Eastwood, and a program that’ll knock your socks off.
Food trucks will be on offer if you fancy a bite to eat, along with a licensed bar. There will also be market stalls, face painting, jumping castle and a special appearance from Santa himself!
A classic car show will also be on display, with guests more than welcome to bring their own 4 wheeled pride and joy.
This celebration of summer will be happening on Thursday, December 20 from 4pm at Whittlesea Showgrounds.
Adventure Park Mernda
Keen for adventure? Well if you spot three huge, colourful horse sculptures at this particular spot, you’ll know you’re in the right place.
Mernda Adventure Park is a great play space for kids, offering challenging and fun obstacles they can enjoy. They’ll be able to climb to their heart’s content on the different fort-like structures, adults might even get a kick out of it too. A flying fox, slides, swings, rock climbing wall and shaded sandpit can also be found here.
Mernda Adventure Park will definitely fill your day with fun. Bring along a picnic of delicious snacks and you’ve got yourself a great outing with the kids.
Two Beans and a Farm
If you’re in the area, and fancy checking out a great local café, look no further than Two Beans and a Farm.
Housed in a 1800s homestead located on the Plenty River, this glorious eatery offers a tranquil setting for any meal. The café is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and patrons can choose from a number of different seating areas.
The focus on local produce is what makes Two Bean and a Farm special. They use as many locally sourced ingredients as possible, even making their own jam and cordial.
With an outdoor cubby for kids and a beautiful garden area, it’s the perfect spot for a meal on a glorious summer’s day.
