Whittlesea Rodeo Celebrates its 50th Year

This Saturday 26 February will mark the 50th anniversary of the Whittlesea Rodeo, which has been drawing in some of the finest riders and bucking stock from across Australia to the Whittlesea Showgrounds since 1972.

The community event was founded by Echuca Village rodeo promoter Bert Hall with the aid of the local Quay family, who played a large part in its success by providing catering, amusements, promotional posters and helping to assemble the rodeo complex. The spirit of local involvement continues to this day, decades after the rodeo’s creation.

The success of the long-running event is all thanks to the response from the public, both locally and from the influx of tourists that the events attracts each year. From Whittlesea to Kilmore, Wallan and further afield, spectators come from far and wide to marvel at the rodeo’s eight-second rides.

The event is truly unique to Whittlesea, you won’t find a rodeo anywhere else between Kilmore and Melbourne! It’s a fantastic opportunity to get a taste of outback Australia right in your own backyard and an occasion surely not to be missed.

Tickets are now on sale for the community event, available online at www.ticketebo.com.au/whittleseaprorodeo or you can get yours at the gate on the day. Gates will open at 3pm, with the action running from 6pm till late.
