A New Community Hub for Wollert

There’s so much happening in Wollert it’s hard to keep up! It seems like yesterday we were writing about the major upgrade to Epping Road, and now we have more good news – a new community centre is coming!
In fact, the Wollert East Community Centre is just part of the tender that was recently awarded by the City of Whittlesea. Five new government schools are included in the project, which will be supported and delivered by the Victorian School Building Authority (VSBA).
Ultimately the centre will be part of a hub with a kindergarten, health services, and primary and secondary schools all within close proximity, providing a smooth transition for kids throughout their school years, and making drop-offs and pick-ups easy for mum and dad!
Wollert East Community Centre should be completed by October at a cost of around $7,254,000 of which $2,750,000 will be contributed by the State Government through its Building Blocks Capacity Grants program. The kinder should be up and running by January 2022.
It’s great that the State Government recognises how important it is that we have infrastructure in place to support our rapidly growing population here in Wollert. We can’t wait to find out what the next announcement will be… and we’ll be sure to let you know when we do!
